New Delhi: Have you heard about the Fat Flush Diet? It is claimed that this eating plan can boost your metabolism, cleanse the liver and burn body fat effectively, helping you lose weight fast. While shedding those extra kilos is something many people look to achieve at the start of a new year, it can be hard to stick to a weight loss diet plan or a fitness programme especially if you’re not seeing your desired results.

If you’re struggling to lose weight or belly fat, you may want to try out this eating plan – the Fat Flush Diet. Created by nutritionist Ann Louise Gittleman, the Fat Flush Diet is basically a low-carb, restricted-calorie plan that combines weight loss and detoxification. The eating plan focuses on healthy foods, such as cruciferous vegetables, fibre-rich fruits, and healthy oils. The diet also promotes an active lifestyle through regular exercise, which is one of the best things you can do for your overall health and wellness.

How does the Fat Flush Diet help you lose weight and burn belly fat?

The hypothesis behind the Fat Flush plan is that consuming the right combinations of foods and a specific eating schedule will increase the metabolism, detox and support the liver, and cause the body to burn fat efficiently. Also known as the cleansing diet, this eating plan has three phases.

Phase I: Known as the detox phase, this period calls for dieters to drink eight glasses of a cranberry juice and water mixture per day to reduce water retention. It is a 2-week plan that restricts daily calorie intake to 1,100 to 1,200 calories. Dieters should not eat wheat or dairy during this phase.

Phase II: This phase is designed for continued weight loss and dieters are allowed to add some carbohydrates to their diet. They can also increase their daily calorie intake to 1500.

Phase III: Called the ‘Lifestyle Eating Plan’, dieters can eat dairy products and more carbohydrates and calories. This phase is designed for lifetime weight control and recommends dieters to adopt a diet ratio of 40 per cent carbohydrates, 30 per cent protein, and 30 per cent fat. Limited dairy consumption is allowed in this phase.

Benefits and Risks of the Fat Flush Diet plan

While the Fat Flush Diet claims to melt the body fat quickly by cleansing the liver and boosting the body’s metabolism, the dietary restrictions and regimented schedule involved in the eating pattern may make it difficult for dieters to stick to the plan. Moreover, the calorie allowances are low – it is claimed that not getting enough calories may significantly slow down the metabolism, disrupting your weight loss efforts. The Fat Flush Diet should not be followed for too long to avoid any potential health problems from popping up.

The bottom line is that the Fat Flush Diet may help you lose weight but as with many other fad diets, it comes with a number of drawbacks. Perhaps, making healthier lifestyle choices and sticking to them consistently will lead to healthy, sustainable weight loss.
