3 min read
We Indians usually follow a 3-meal per day pattern, which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. And mostly, all the three meals are heavy and calorie-laden, which is not advisable for good health. Thus, we Indians are someone who can greatly benefit from adopting the paleo diet, which is restrictive in nature. The paleo diet is an ancient diet also known as the caveman diet. Potential benefits of paleo include diabetes management, good heart health and improved immunity.
While we all know what paleo diet looks like and what we should eat, what many of us do not know is the foods that we should not consume, while following the paleo diet. Here’s a list of three foods you need to skip on a paleo diet.

Legumes and beans
As ancient men did not know about cultivation and beans were not available back then, they are restricted in the Paleo diet. Beans are rich in Phytic acid that can cause health problems. All types of beans including black beans, kidney beans, lentils, peas, chickpeas, soya beans, peanuts and moong are completely restricted.

Grains
Grains are high in carbohydrates. Moreover, the grains available these days are highly hybridized and processed. Thus, paleo diet restricts you from having any kind of grain, be it rice, bajra, oats or grams. Pasta, corn syrup, brown bread are also derived from grains and thus not allowed.

Processed items
Anything that is processed is restricted. You need to say bye to your pizzas, burgers, hot dogs, cakes, wafers, muffin, pasta, chips, cookies, candies, juices and even sauces. Anything that is not natural is not allowed in the paleo diet.
