Winter is as much synonymous to dry, dull, flaky and chapped skin as much as holidays, snow-capped trees, cool breezes and all things cozy. The dry chilling winds, low humidity accompanied by dry air from blowers and heaters take away natural moisture from our skin. Thereby, it is all the more important to follow a skin-care regime along with specific foods that keep your skin hydrated and glowing during these lovely months.

Here’s a list of 5 foods that you must consume in your regular diet to enjoy winters fully and be all prepped for some great holiday photo-ops:

1. Almonds

Almonds are rich in Vitamin-E and anti-oxidants. You must soak 5 almonds every night and eat them the next day after peeling off their skin to extract maximum benefits. Also, you can give yourself a nice face massage with almond oil every night and spread the glow!

2. Carrots

Carrots are rich in beta-carotene and lycopene that protect skin from UV damage. Although the sun is not too bright in winters, UV rays are still present all around us. Carrots are also packed with Vitamin A, potassium and anti-oxidants that keep dry skin and uneven skin tone issues at bay. Aim to drink a glass of Carrot + Beetroot + Orange + Amla + Lemon Juice every day to up your fight against the dull skin.

3. Spinach

Spinach is rich in iron, vitamin-C, and vitamin-A. While healthy iron levels ward away paleness from your complexion; vitamins help repair skin cells thereby making it look beautifully supple, plump and gorgeous. Include spinach in soups, salads, sandwiches and Indian main course dishes like palak paneer, palak corn, etc.

4. Green Tea

Consuming green tea in winters is easy as compared to summers. Green Tea is a potent source of anti-oxidants that protect your skin from free radicals. Add a lemon and a teaspoon of honey for added benefits and nutrition. Aim to drink at least two cups of green tea each day!

5. Dark Chocolate

Just the name brings a wide smile on your face! Dark chocolate is rich in flavonols that fight UV damage, free radicals and aid blood circulation while impacting your brain chemistry to good. Don’t hesitate to grab a cup of hot chocolate however made with dark chocolate.
