She may only be 18-years-old but Lottie Tomlinson has been stirring up quite a storm on social media for a while now, and it’s not all down to her famous last name (she’s Louis from One Direction’s sister – sigh!).
With 2.9 million followers on Instagram, she regularly updates her fans with cool beauty looks and insider tips.
If that’s not enough, she’s now a trained make-up artist who’s worked on the beautiful faces of Selena Gomez and Louisa Johnson.
Today Nails Inc has announced the details for the brand new collection of matching nail & lip paint duos, called Matchbox – and the northern beauty is the face of it. We caught up with her at a posh London location to find out the answers to some of our burning beauty questions…
You have like, 3 MILLION followers on Instagram – how did you do it?
It’s gradually just gone up and up and up! I started doing all my beauty things and posting a lot of out-there hair and nails shots, so I think a lot of beauty people just followed me. It’s so crazy but you do get used to it in a sense. It’s a little crazy the amount of people that follow me.
Your hair is amazing! How do you keep all those pastel colours looking so good?
Thank you. I think because I’m quite involved with Lou Teasdale [One Direction’s hair stylist!], and her sister has a salon called Bleach, it’s helped me to try a lot of colours. Because I’m so light I can do it. I’m a dark blonde naturally so it’s quite easy to get this light. But I get my roots bleached quite often, maybe every 6-8 weeks.
So how did you first break into the make-up industry?
Well, I finished my GCSEs when I was 16 and I always wanted to do make-up so my brother [Louis] asked Lou if I could do a week with her. It went from there really and I just started to do more and more with her, and then we did the whole tour together. I learned everything I know from her. I didn’t know much when I first started so she’s taught me a lot of important things.
How do you deal with nasty comments online? Do you even read them?
Sometimes I delete it, but I usually ignore them. Sometimes I don’t even read them to be honest, because there’s quite a lot of stuff. It doesn’t bother me anymore – just delete! I’m less bothered now than I used to be.
You must have a beauty disaster you wish you could take back?
I started shaving the middle of my eyebrows when I was younger! They started to get further and further apart. My mum stepped in and told me not to, so luckily they grew back.
Do you ever get nervous about messing up when you’re putting make-up on someone famous?
I think you do, but I’m just like, so used to the people I do and I don’t do a lot of new people. I kind of just ask what they want me to do and we work a lot off their outfits to see what make-up look will work.
Who would you REALLY want to work with?
The Kardashians, definitely!

Yes, I love them. I’ve always loved the shade Mayfair Lane, a baby pink. And now I’ve got these boxes which are matching lips and tips. I wanted to choose four different shades that I thought would suit different people, and also reflect me. I’d wear all of the shades and I tried them all on before approving.
