Unpleasant after-effects of GM diet

3 min read
The GM diet plan promises to make one lose 7 kilos in 7 days. The seven-day diet plan is extremely strict with very few food options allowed. The only foods allowed during the seven days are fruits, vegetables, brown rice and seafood. The diet plan doesn’t encourage regular exercise and workout.
One may definitely lose weight with this diet plan, but the weight loss is so fast that it comes accompanied with side effects. Here is a list of four after-effects of following this super-fast weight loss plan:

Your muscles become weak
GM diet can weaken your muscles, which is not at all good for your health. Weak muscles result in weaker immunity, which can make you fall sick more often. This happens because muscle cells are deprived of enough protein for a few days. It can also lead to physical weakness.

Decreased metabolism
The diet requires you to consume very few calories, which results in decreased metabolic rate. Low metabolism may lead to difficulty in future weight loss problems. People start gaining weight as soon as they finish the diet.

Hair fall
Hair requires nutrients such as folate, protein and iron. GM diet lacks all these important nutrients. Though the diet is rich in fibre, it lacks key minerals and vitamins. Most people complain of hair fall after they finish following the diet.

The diet is not suitable for everyone
Due to its strict limitations, it cannot be followed by everyone. Especially pregnant women and children should never follow the diet. It is not also suitable for people who have arthritis or any cardiovascular issues. One must consult the doctor before starting the diet.
