Legendary cricketer and co-owner of Indian Super League football club Kerala Blasters Sachin Tendulkar wished everyone on the auspicious day of Onam.
The legendary batsman greeted his fans via social networking by sharing a photograph of him having delicious cuisine from Kerala on a banana leaf with the caption, “Onam started early with this delicious meal with the Kerala Blasters lads. #HappyOnam everyone!”
Kerala Blasters will face NorthEast United FC in the opener of ISL Season 3, at the Indira Gandhi Athletic stadium in Guwahati, Assam, on October 1.
A consortium of investors, including Telugu film stars Chiranjeevi and Akkineni Nagarjuna, on Wednesday joined Tendulkar as co-owners of Kerala Blasters.
Besides the duo, leading film producer Allu Arvind and industrialist and serial entrepreneur Nimmagadda Prasad are the other new co-owners.
The consortium purchased stake in Blasters Sports Pvt Ltd, the owners of Kerala Blasters Football Club.
The state government of Kerala and Kerala Blasters football club are in the process of drawing up a blue print for a five-year plan for football in the state.
The objective is to propel Kerala football to greater heights, whereby, over the next five years, the goal is to have 100 footballers of international standard.
