National Take Back Drug Event allows you to drop off unused prescription drugs

1 min read

Today marked National Drug Take Back Day. With the opioid epidemic worsening its important to have a place to dispose of your unused prescription drugs.

Bismarck-Burleigh County Public Health partnered with the Bismarck Police Gateway Pharmacy to host their own drop off. The Take Back Program was launched in 2009 but this year they partnered together to start their own drop-off stations.

There are over 160 locations across the state where you could drop off your unused prescription meds.
North Dakota offers two free year round programs to dispose of these drugs. Since the take back program launched in 2009 they have been able to collect more than 12 tons of drugs.

Today alone the Bismarck-Burleigh County Public Health was able to collect 14 lbs. of unused medications. If you were not able to make it to the drug drop off you can leave your unused medications at any pharmacy in Bismarck or Mandan or either of their police stations.
