India’s second largest smartphone brand Micromax has launched Canvas 5 Lite at Rs 6,499. The Canvas 5 Lite is successor to last year’s Canvas 5 smartphone. The latest phone is now available to buy exclusively from Snapdeal.
The Canvas 5 Lite has a 5-inch IPS HD display with resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The phone is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core processor, backed by 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The phone doesn’t support expandable storage.
On the back, the Canvas 5 Lite has an 8-megapixel camera with flash and auto-focus. It also carries a 5-megapixel front facing camera for selfies. The Canvas 5 Lite comes with a 200mAh battery, which promises to deliver up to 5 hours of talk time and up to 150 hours of standby time.
The Canvas 5 Lite runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. It is available in slate grey and brown colours. The phone has a leather cover finish on the back and sports a metal ring around the rear camera.
The latest Micromax phone supports 4G LTE. Other connectivity options are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, FM Radio, 3.5mm audio jack and microUSB port for charging and data transfer.
Shubhajit Sen, chief marketing officer, Micromax Informatics said, “Micromax has been relentless in its pursuit of launching Smartphones that combine superior performance with contemporary styling at accessible prices. The launch of the Canvas 5 lite is the latest milestone in our resolve to offer the best products at competitive price points.”
“The rapid smartphone category evolution is constantly reshaping the preference of young urban consumers. They now expect top-of-line performance, 4G connectivity along with premium, modern styling in the budget Smartphone segment. We developed Canvas 5 Lite as a no compromise, All-in-one phone – for the festive season,” he added.
At this price tag, the Canvas 5 Lite faces direct competition from the likes of Lenovo Vibe K5 and Coolpad Note 3 Lite. Both the phones have slightly better hardware, especially in terms of camera and battery.
