Another busy week has slipped by at Club 55. The second Tuesday of each month we are lucky to have blood pressure checks, and foot care provided by caring nurses. This week we also welcomed Jill Smith, RN, as she explained how to avoid falls and stay strong as we age.

On Thursday morning Jody Knoebel from Jelli’s Market in Helenville brought some of the apples that are grown on their farm for us to taste. She gave us a brief history of how their farm and market has grown through the years since they decided to plant a ‘few’ strawberries and use the proceeds for their girl’s college funds. They have expanded to several fruits, berries, vegetables, plants, and offer frozen Angus beef as well as pork, chickens, and eggs. She is a very busy gal!

It was a craft afternoon on Thursday with Janet leading a turkey making project just in time for Thanksgiving. Picture this gobbler perched on your table or another project…’Learn to sew a women’s polar fleece hat.’ She will lead us in how to cut, assemble, and sew a warm hat of polar fleece that can be machine sewn at home. Patterns will be provided at the workshop but sewing will be done at home. Fabric is not needed for workshop.

Judy Ripp was back on Thursday as well with all of the materials needed to make an angel ornament. She provided directions and led us from start to finish as we chose materials from her stash of lace and decorative finishing touches. We will miss her when she heads to Arizona for the winter, but hope she comes back with lots of new ideas for us to try.
