Tata Group will reach out more to consumers and tap digital opportunity to build upon the ‘foundation inherited’ by the company for the next 150 years, Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry has said.
Ratan Tata was deeply involved in promoting a technology-oriented culture in the group.
“The group chief technology officer’s role is to evangelise innovation within different group companies; we tell our chief executives that this is now equally their role,” he said in an interview to the conglomerate’s in-house website tata.com.
He believes that its time for the company to take bolder steps as true value will be created from bigger strides and incremental innovation.
Tata group is currently incubating three companies in the digital space that includes Tata CLiQ, Tata iQ and Tata Digital Health.
The company is using its e-commerce marketplace to deliver value to customers. For a holistic picture of the customers’ needs, the company uses big data and data analytics through Tata iQ, he added.
