Toyota unveiled their best-ever Camry model at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show. Based on the new TNGA platform, the new model looks more muscular and aggressive than its predecessors. Toyota will offer the 2018 model in four variants – LE, XLE, SE, and XSE. The top two versions, namely the SE and the XSE will get sport body modifications as well as 19-inch wheels.
The new Toyota Camry will be powered by a 3.5-liter V6 and a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that will be mated to a new eight-speed automatic transmission. In terms of safety, Toyota has not left any stones unturned and has offered reverse parking camera as standard, 10 airbags, Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P) that includes forward-collision warning with automatic braking and pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. Based on variants, it also offers blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
In terms of design, the new Toyota Camry commands attention and is hard to miss, the vehicle now gets around two-inches longer wheelbase and low centre of gravity that makes it more aerodynamic and fuel efficient. Moreover, Toyota claims that the hood, cowl and dashboard have been lowered for better visibility. The front gets large mesh grille, unique rear lip spoiler and smoked taillight lenses.
Speaking about the interior, the new Camry gets premium upholstery and reengineered seats for more comfort and easy access. The sedan 10-inch color head-up display, a seven-inch screen within the instrument cluster, and another eight-inch screen showing audio, navigation, and climate control displays in the center console. The vehicle gets endless features that puts it a class above the rest in its segment.
High on style quotient, the new Camry also impresses with features, performance and comfort as compared to the predecessors. Moreover, Toyota claims that the new model offers more driving pleasure than any other variant in the car’s history.
